JOIN THE STEERING COMMITTEE!

We're excited to announce an opportunity to help shape the future of the In House Pro Bono Group!
We want to drive the Group to the next level and are seeking enthusiastic and energetic new governance members to help guide our efforts. This is a chance to make a real difference in our community by leveraging your legal skills and passion for pro bono. We are looking for new members for:
-
The Steering Committee: this plays a crucial role in setting the strategic direction of our Group, identifying and implementing new initiatives and fostering a culture of commitment to pro bono across the in-house community. It also shares knowledge, best practice and resources to build and strengthen in-house pro bono services, and connects in-house lawyers, charities and pro bono professionals through networking and communication. Members of the Committee are active in and work closely with various stakeholder groups including LawWorks, the National Pro Bono Centre and the Attorney General’s Pro Bono Committee.
-
Junior Steering Committee: we are forming a Junior Steering Committee (JSC) for newly qualified lawyers (0-5 years PQE or equivalent). The JSC will support the main Steering Committee by contributing ideas, assisting in the planning and execution of events, and helping to promote pro bono initiatives within the in-house legal community. The JSC will provide an opportunity for junior professionals to develop leadership skills, gain experience in organising pro bono activities and collaborate with peers who share a commitment to pro bono.
Time commitment
We understand that all in-house lawyers have existing professional obligations and work schedules that can often be unpredictable. Serving on the Steering Committee or the JSC requires a commitment of both time and energy. Candidates must be prepared to prioritise their Steering Committee responsibilities alongside their existing professional obligations. Please carefully consider the demands of this role and apply only if you are confident in your ability to dedicate the necessary time and effort to actively contribute to the Group's success.
How to apply
If you are interested in this opportunity, we invite you to submit a brief statement addressing the following:

-
Why you are interested in serving on the Steering Committee/the JSC and what specific skills, experiences, or perspectives do you believe you would bring to the role?
-
What do you think the In House Pro Bono Group does well? What could we be doing better?
-
What type of initiatives would you like to see us involved in?
-
Please list current / previous employment as well as your role internally in the development of your employer’s pro bono offering.
Please submit your statement to info@inhouseprobono.uk by 30th April. We encourage you to be concise in your responses!
We look forward to receiving your application and learning more about your interest in leading our In House Pro Bono Group.
